Do I Really Need to "Break-In" My New Vehicle?

Even though you don't have to fret or sweat constantly over your new Subaru, there are a few things that you can do during the first thousand-or-so miles that will pay dividends in the long run. It's recommended that you avoid constant speeds for extended periods of time or putting undue stress on the engine such as towing a trailer during the first 1,000 miles. This will give components inside the engine a chance to "condition" themselves and their surroundings. When it comes to the braking system, not much is required other than to avoid hard stops for the first few hundred miles. You can also protect the exterior of your new Subaru with a good coat of wax and/or protective paint film on leading edges.
