Shingle Springs Subaru backs Oak Ridge Alpine - Steve M

One of the largest sports teams on campus at Oak Ridge High School of El Dorado Hills is its Alpine Team, which competes in ski and snowboard racing. With 90+ student athletes, it is one of the largest teams of its type in the country - but is located in a suburb of Sacramento. The goal of the Oak Ridge Alpine team is encouraging student athletes to develop life skills and values as well as competitive excellence through ski and snowboard racing. While the team consistently finishes within the top 3 overall scores for race performance and sportsmanship annually at the State Championships, there have been only a small handful of athletes who possess any race experience upon joining the team. A veteran staff of volunteer coaches (most of whom do not have children on the team) have assembled a comprehensive equipment, training, and transportation program. Most athletes require several years to become competitive racers which leads to a depth of home-grown talent steeped in the team's mission of character development, growth mindset, integrity, sportsmanship, teamwork and athletic excellence. Fueled by a friendly, disciplined reputation among the student community as well as competitive success, the team has doubled in size over the past 5 years. The associated expense of mountain access, competition fees and transportation costs have increased the need for community backing to fund the team. Shingle Springs Subaru's support of Oak Ridge Alpine is another example of their leadership in the community's investment in developing quality young adults through influential lessons and experiences which last a lifetime.

Free Community Vaccine & Microchip Clinic (Foothill Dog Rescue) - Erin G

In 2025, Foothill Dog Rescue of the Sierras hosted a free community microchip and vaccine clinic, made possible by a grant from Subaru. The goal was simple: make basic veterinary care accessible to the community. In one day, 234 animals were serviced, receiving vaccines and microchips, and many families were also connected to additional resources such as spay and neuter services and pet food support. For some families, this was their first time accessing veterinary care. For others, it was a way to stay caught up and keep their pets healthy without having to choose between care and other necessities. Clinics like this help keep animals safe, healthy, and in their homes. One dog who attended the clinic reminded us how long-lasting the impact of community support can be. Back in 2018, our Puppy Coordinator and her family fostered two Doberman bottle babies who came into rescue in rough shape. They were malnourished, had skin issues, and were believed at the time to be both deaf and blind. Caring for them required round-the-clock feeding/care, and a lot of patience. They were named Peaches and Pluto. With consistent care, both puppies slowly improved. As they grew, it became clear that they could see and hear, although Pluto has always been selectively good at listening. Eventually, both dogs were adopted by loving families. Seven years later, at our 2025 community clinic, one of the dogs brought in for vaccines was Pluto. His adopter had brought him and another dog in for routine care. During the clinic, Pluto unexpectedly reunited with Jacky, the Puppy Coordinator who had fostered him as a fragile puppy. Seeing a once-bottle-fed puppy return years later as a healthy, well-loved dog was a reminder of why accessible community care matters. The support that helped Pluto survive in 2018 was still supporting him in 2025, just in a different way. This clinic wasnt just about vaccines or microchips. It was about continuity of care, community trust, and the long-term impact of meeting animals and families where they are. Sometimes the clearest measure of success is seeing a familiar face walk back through the door, healthy, loved, and still part of the community that helped them grow.

Food Bank of El Dorado County - Kim M

Subrau has long believed that strong communities are built by neighbors helping neighbors. That belief comes to life through their annual food drive in support of the Food Bank of El Dorado County. Employees rallied together, collecting much-needed food items with a shared purpose: to help ensure local families have access to nutritious meals. Thanks to Subraus generosity and community-minded spirit, the food drive provided vital support to the Food Bank during a time of increased need. Their commitment helped strengthen the safety net for individuals, seniors, and families across El Dorado Countyproving once again that when local businesses step up, the entire community benefits. On behalf of the Food Bank of El Dorado County we want to thank Shingle Springs Subaru for their partnership in helping others.

Shingle Springs Subaru supports local community event, Main St. Placerville Oktoberfest - Alan M

Oktoberfest on Main St. Placerville has become an annual tradition bringing an estimated 3,000 attendees to downtown Placerville. Due to unfortunate circumstances the event was cancelled in 2024. This year, for the first time ever, the local Merchants on Main Street Organization solely organized this community event versus using an outside event coordinator. The theme focused on El Dorado County harvest and creating a community, family friendly event. We had local breweries, wineries, food vendors, five bands, contests, and a family fun zone. Volunteers included local business owners, non profits, and members of the local community. The overwhelming response from the community and Main St. businesses was this was the best Oktoberfest event ever. This could not have happened without the support of local business sponsors like Shingle Springs Subaru, and we hope to continue this partnership in the years to come. The community and merchants thank you!

Driving Hope Forward: Shingle Springs Subaru Powers Sarcoma Research at UC Davis - Emily M

Since 2021, Shingle Springs Subaru has been a powerful champion for sarcoma research at UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center, leveraging Subarus annual Share the Love Event to raise nearly $400,000 for our nationally-recognized sarcoma program. The dealerships generosity directly fuels the research of Dr. R. Lor Randall, Chair of the UC Davis Health Orthopaedic Surgery, and a leading expert in sarcoma, a cancer found in bone and muscle, which makes up about 15% of all childhood cancers. Dr. Randall recently presented Shingle Springs Subaru with a symbol of our gratitude: a race car-style trophy. The trophy symbolizes to UC Davis the gratitude we feel toward Shingle Springs Subaru, and what they are doing for sarcoma patients today and tomorrow, said Dr. Randall. The partnership holds deep meaning. When Executive General Manager Bryant McCarver and his wife, Kirsten, learned that their daughter Kate had sarcoma at just 15, their family turned to UC Davis for care. Under Dr. Randalls skilled surgical treatment, Kate recovered fully and is now thriving as a college senior preparing for her next chapter. Inspired by their journey, the McCarver family and Shingle Springs Subaru have transformed difficult times into a driving force for goodensuring other families facing sarcoma have access to hope, discovery, and world-class care close to home. In 2024, Shingle Springs Subaru deepened its commitment by partnering with UC Davis to launch the inaugural Shingle Springs Subaru Sarcoma Symposium. This annual event brings together leading sarcoma researchers from across the country to accelerate collaboration, innovation, and progress toward a cure. We thank Shingle Springs Subaru for their extraordinary generosity, partnership, and compassion. Warmth in the Heart of Winter - Jessica K

Sitting here, my heart swells with gratitude as I reflect on the heartwarming coat drive we orchestrated for our Placerville families, in collaboration with Shingle Springs Subaru. It wasn't just an event; it was a testament to the vibrant spirit of our community and the boundless joy of giving. Tom and his team at Subaru were simply wonderful. They greeted our clients with such genuine warmth and humility, transforming what could have been a simple distribution into a truly connective and fun experience. The brightest moments were seeing the children's faces light up with pure delight, their smiles stretching ear to ear as they had the freedom to pick out a jacket that was truly "just for them." Though much of our work is delivered in the field, we cherished the opportunity to welcome several families to our office for this event. For those unable to join us in person, the dedicated Subaru team and our staff went the extra mile, ensuring everyone received a coat through calls, texts, and even personal shopping trips. The sheer joy and heartfelt gratitude radiating from everyonewhether connecting with their treatment teams or discovering that perfect winter coatwas absolutely priceless. It was a beautiful, tangible reminder of the incredible impact we create when we unite for a common good. Thank you to the entire team at Subaru for giving our youth and families not just coats to keep them warm, but hope to lift their spirits!

Cancer Patients at Marshall Receive Messages of Hope and Warm Blankets - Alex W

Shingle Springs Subaru and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society®(LLS) support cancer patients during Subaru Loves to Care® Initiative. For the eighth consecutive year, Shingle Springs Subaru teamed up with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) to support cancer patients during Subaru Loves to Care Initiative in June. This year, Subaru and LLS donated blankets and messages of hope to the Marshall Cancer Center, a UC Davis Health affiliate, on June 5. The blankets will provide warmth, love, and relief to cancer patients. During Subaru Loves to Care Initiative, Subaru retailers across the country are partnering with LLS and local hospitals to provide blankets and personal messages. By the end of 2023, Subaru will have supported nearly 300,000 cancer patients across the U.S. since 2016. At Shingle Springs Subaru, we are committed to positively impacting the community where we live and work, says Bryant McCarver, Executive General Manager, Shingle Springs Subaru. Thats why we, in partnership with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, are stepping up to support cancer patients and their families this month. Shingle Springs Subaru customers and employees wrote heartfelt, personal notes to Marshall cancer patients. Along with the blankets and messages, the donation also included personal care kits containing items such as eye masks, ChapStick, and lotion. Cancer Center staff report that for the patients who are the beneficiaries of this generous donation, the impact is both immediate and heartwarming. The blankets are tangible symbols of the support each patient receives from their personal network of care. Were grateful for our longstanding partnership with Shingle Springs Subaru and LLS to help improve the lives of cancer patients and their families, added Mindy Danovaro, Executive Director, Marshall Foundation for Community Health. Shingle Springs Subaru, Sharing the Love to help local cancer patients. - Melissa B

Sarcoma research gained traction after Shingle Springs Subaru presented an $80,000 check to the UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center as part of the 2022 Subaru of Americas Share the Love Event. This represents the third year of partnership between UC Davis Health and the Shingle Springs Subaru owners Bryant and Kirsten McCarver to support children, adolescents, and young adults battling cancer in the Sacramento Region. Inspired by the treatment of their daughter Kate during her sophomore year of high school, Bryant and Kirsten McCarver decided that they wanted to help kids battling cancer in the communities they serve through their dealership. Dr. Lor Randall, Chair of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and internationally recognized sarcoma surgeon and scientist, removed Kates cancer, and fortunately, she remains cancer free. The funding provided by the Shingle Springs Subaru, Share the Love event is changing lives. UC Davis Health Sarcoma Services is comprised of an integrated team of internationally recognized experts, said Dr. Randall. I am incredibly grateful as we continue to provide research contributions at such a critical time for programs in musculoskeletal science, our educational efforts for emerging providers, and our patient community. The partnership with Subaru Share the Love helps move the needle for better patient outcomes. Partnership and collaboration are vital to success. Expert care is available in our region for families. Shingle Springs Subaru and Share the Love make it possible to push our research efforts to improve treatments and outcomes. Meet Lydia: It was spring 2019, and the Alwan family had returned home from skiing when eldest daughter Lydia began complaining of leg pain. Likely a pulled muscle, they thought. But as the pain worsened, it began waking her up at night, so her parents made an appointment to see her pediatrician. We took Lydia in and had an exam and x-rays. When we got the news, it felt like the world just stopped, said Lydias mom, Jessica Alwan. Lydia had osteosarcoma. Osteosarcoma is a type of bone cancer that tends to occur in teenagers and young adults but can also affect younger children. Treatment for osteosarcoma usually involves chemotherapy, surgery, and sometimes radiation therapy. Doctors select treatment options based on the location, size, type, and grade of the osteosarcoma and whether the cancer has spread beyond the bone. Lydias cancer was in her mid-femur, and there was no time to waste, Alwan said. We had to get up to speed quickly. Alwan and her husband began their quest to get the best in surgical and oncological care for their daughter. To save her leg, we needed an expert surgeon, but we also needed a great oncologist, Alwan said. We discovered both at the UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center and were confident in her team to guide us in making some of the most important decisions of our lives. Musculoskeletal surgical oncologist expert Dr. Lor Randall and pediatric oncologist Dr. Elysia Alvarez were the dream team the Alwans had hoped for. And they found them just down the hill from their home in Auburn. Not only were these doctors the best, but they were also so close by, Alwan said. We knew Lydias chemotherapy treatments were going to be intense and would require her to be admitted to the hospital for days, if not weeks at a time. To not have to travel further was a gift. We also have two other children we had to take care of. The location made it easier to manage. Subaru Share the Love is changing the lives of patients like Lydia. In addition, partnerships like this improve the lives of families in our region. We are ensuring the highest quality treatment close to home.

Subaru is helping First Tee Build Game Changers - Angie D

At First Tee we create active learning experiences that build inner strength, self-confidence, and resilience that kids can carry to everything they do. We are so thankful to be a recipient of Shingle Springs Subarus Love Promise! With Shingle Springs Subarus support in partnership with Serrano CC we have been able to reach so many more young people in an impactful way this past year. We were so thankful to be able to expand our RISE golf program this past year. Thanks to Subarus support we were able to provide meals at every clinic, new golf equipment for participants and uniforms. RISE stands for Reach, Inspire, Support, and Empower and is a collaboration with local community centers to bring our golf and life skills program to inner-city youth who would not otherwise have the opportunity to participate. There is no fee for this program to the participants. Our goal is to educate the participant and the entire family about the benefits of golf and its inherent values. Subaru also provided golfership funding to allow young people from our RISE program and other areas of our community to join one of our fee-based programs free of charge. Golferships ensure that no child is turned away who has a desire to participate in our program, but simply cannot afford it, and thanks to Subaru we can continue to be committed to providing affordable golf opportunities to all youth who would like to play the game of golf. Kids become a better version of themselves when they have the space to be who they are, surrounded by passionate people who guide them to see what they are capable of. We thank Shingle Springs Subaru for their ongoing support of our program and the young people we serve!
